As part of the multimedia experience Step into History, presented at the Village Québécois d’Antan in Drummondville, Generique Design was commissioned by Moment Factory to design and fabricate a series of interactive telephones combining durability, heritage-inspired aesthetics, and integrated technology. These devices serve as scenographic touchpoints in an immersive experience that transports visitors back to the year 1893.
Made from lacquered ash and stainless steel, the 11 telephones are designed for both indoor and outdoor use year-round. Weatherproof and resistant to the elements, they include an accessible enclosure for maintaining the A/V components, while respecting the site’s retro aesthetic. The installation had to meet strict requirements for durability, ergonomics, and compatibility with audiovisual equipment supplied by Moment Factory.
Generique Design handled the industrial design, technology integration, and full supervision of fabrication and assembly. This project reflects a bespoke approach that blends precision engineering with scenographic sensitivity, in service of a playful and interactive retelling of Quebec’s history.
