Designed for the entrance hall of ÉTS’s new F pavilion, Blueprint is a public artwork by Alain Paiement, with technical execution by Generique Design. As part of a series of the artist’s interventions throughout the building, the work explores ÉTS’s distinctive technical identity.
The installation takes the form of an 8-by-8-foot suspended panel, composed of eight perforated, painted aluminum sheets mechanically fastened with stainless steel hardware. Each panel features a distinct, custom-developed shade and is suspended from the ceiling and anchored to the floor with steel cables, creating a subtle balance between lightness and structural tension.
Generique Design was responsible for industrial design, fabrication, installation, and artist support throughout the process. Through carefully designed lighting, the perforations reveal shifting visual patterns, generating dynamic moiré effects that evolve with the movement of viewers—both inside the hall and from outside the building.
