Specifically designed for the Buchheim museum in Germany, this custom edition of the Musical swings transposes Daily tous les jours’ iconic collaborative experience into an exceptional natural and architectural setting. Suspended from the museum’s pier-shaped balcony, the three circular swings invite visitors to float above the landscape, generating ethereal melodies through their movements.
Generique Design handled the industrial design, mechanical design, technology integration, and fabrication supervision for this new iteration. Each circular seat, with a diameter of 1100 mm, is made from robust yet lightweight materials—polyurethane, high-density polyethylene, and aluminum—and features a deformable impact zone around its perimeter, complying with European safety standards.
The exceptional cable lengths and the technical integration of pivots into the existing columns posed major challenges, addressed through a custom design that ensures stability, smooth motion, and safety.
Musical swings at the Buchheim museum thus transforms an architectural space into a poetic place of interaction between the body, art, and nature.
