Presented at the Théâtre des Cordes in Caen as part of the ]Interstice[ festival, Unfold is an immersive audiovisual installation conceived by artist Myriam Bleau. The work takes the form of a 12-meter luminous ribbon, twisted and folded onto itself, escaping the traditional two-dimensionality of the screen to unfold a spatial experience of light and sound.

Generique Design was commissioned to design and fabricate a custom suspended structure capable of supporting a flexible double-sided LED screen, while discreetly integrating the electronic components required for its operation. The structure is composed of 81 unique 3D-printed parts in black PETG, mechanically assembled and paired with 81 magnetized flexible LED tiles. The entire assembly is suspended from ten points and integrates power supplies, receiver boxes, cables, and connectors within the structural framework itself.

The primary challenge lay in developing an openwork structure that was simultaneously lightweight, rigid, and accessible, allowing for cable routing and connection operations without compromising the formal continuity of the work. More than 1,000 machine hours of 3D printing were required to produce the elements forming this complex ribbon, conceived as a precise support for an artistic exploration combining quantum physics, anamorphosis, and perception.
