Designed to enrich public space through an interactive, sensory experience, Daydreamer is an installation composed of three swivelling benches that blend sculptural design with immersive technology. Developed in collaboration with Daily tous les jours and Guillaume Sasseville, this unique piece of urban furniture invites users to sway in unison, triggering soft music and integrated lighting effects.
Generique Design provided the industrial and mechanical design, technology integration, and fabrication of the benches, developing a frictionless magnetic braking system that ensures smooth, safe, and maintenance-free motion. Each bench—made of powder-coated aluminum, stainless steel, and oiled white oak—can seat up to four people and rotate 360°. The interactive interface, featuring sensors and an audio system, enhances the sense of connection between participants.
Winner of a HUB Montréal Award and a Numix Award, Daydreamer redefines urban furniture by introducing a therapeutic and collaborative dimension to the public environment.
